Fuel Conservation in Waynesville |
In response to recent events resulting in increased fuel prices and decreased amounts available, the various departments of the Town developed plans to conserve fuel. Some of the changes which you may notice are: - Meter readers will park and walk to read meters when possible. - Trucks will be turned off when not in use. - The commercial container truck will operate five days per week rather than six. - If residential garbage is not out when the truck runs on a route, the truck will not back track, the garbage will be picked up the next week on the regular pick up day. - Vehicle maintenance, including tune up, clean air filters and properly inflated tires will be monitored more closely. Various other steps, which may not be quite as obvious, will also be taken by the Town to reduce the amount of fuel used, protect the environment and save the taxpayers money.
