Voluntary Water Restrictions Print E-mail
Beginning November 3, 2008, the Town of Waynesville requests that all customers immediately reduce water consumption.  All water customers of the Town of Waynesville, which includes customers of the Junaluska Sanitary District and Lake Junaluska Assembly, are being asked to voluntarily conserve water.  Our water source is a 500 million gallon reservoir which captures the water from the 8,600 acre Waynesville Watershed.  Due to the ongoing drought, the reservoir is currently four feet below full pond.  Once the reservoir reaches this level, the Town's Water Shortage Response Plan allows the Mayor to call for voluntary reductions.  For further information, and for a list of water conservation tips, please click here.  The full Water Shortage Response Plan is available here.  If you have questions or need additional information, please call 828-452-2491.

Public Art Dedication Ceremony Print E-mail

On Friday, October 3 at 7:30 p.m., the Public Art Commission dedicated "Old Time Music" by Stefan Bonitz.  The theme "Old Time Music" was chosen in recognition of Waynesville's history of music and festivals, as well as the origin of the Smoky Mountain Folk Festival. The mission of the Waynesville Public Art Commission is to engage the community and enrich public spaces through original art that celebrates Waynesville's unique historic, cultural, natural and human resources.  Information on the construction of this art work by Stefan Bonitz and Steebo Design Studio is available here.
